OCD, OCPD, and so on

It is a problem that some people suffer from. It used to lead to the death of those affected by it sometimes when it exceeded reasonable limits. In addition, it turned the lives of those affected by it into a living hell in certain cases.

The basis of the problem of obsessive-compulsive disorder OCD is a problem of neurological origin, it occurs due to a malfunction in the neural circuit, specifically between the basal ganglia and the orbitofrontal cortex, which goes through two stages. The first stage is the stage of obsession with a certain idea that repeatedly controls the brain, such as the obsessive idea of fear of germs. The second stage is the stage of the patient performing a certain action to get rid of this specific idea, such as washing the hands dozens of times in a row to ensure getting rid of germs, or in fact to get rid of the idea that has controlled the brain.

- Levels of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder:

The first level is the normal level, in which the affected person often realizes that what he is doing is illogical, but he does it to get rid of the idea that has taken over his mind. These are people who are not satisfied with that, so they look for a treatment for their problem, which is usually simple through psychological training and sometimes through medication, or both together.

The second level is the most difficult level, which is called Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder (OCPD), where people with this condition believe that they live in a world of chaos and are completely convinced that they are working to arrange things around them, It is a condition based on imposing the opinion of the obsessive person on others. The person in this condition is usually a leader who is characterized by his exaggerated interest in details. Of course, it is impossible to convince a person in this condition that his problem is pathological due to his vision of the achievements that are being made on the ground in addition to the satisfaction of his subordinates with him because of the amazing results that he achieves. However, the people who suffer most from it are those close to him, such as his family members and employees, and this is exactly the case of Steve Jobs.

- Successful people but:

Strangely people who suffer from obsessive-compulsive personality disorder are successful people in their lives and have been able to achieve many accomplishments. It is a condition that affects many managers and business owners, as this person cannot live without a project and therefore postpones his work. These people are like machines that work without fatigue, boredom or despair to achieve their goals and the basis of their success is focusing on details to reach the highest possible quality or rather they see it as appropriate and usually that result is the best that a person can reach, just like the iPhone and iPad during the Steve Jobs era.

Yes, one of the features of OCPD is that it is an advantage, perhaps those who suffer from it are people who have wealth and fame sometimes, and an achievement addict. He is a person who is convinced that the achievement that has been made must be greater than the previous achievement such as some athletes and managers, but the dark side is that these people suffer from depression if the result of what they did is slightly less than the desired result.

In the end, it cannot be denied that achieving accomplishments is a wonderful thing, there is no doubt about that.
