There are several factors that contributed to the success of unity, including language, history, and geography, but the union experience is considered one of the most successful experiences throughout history,

As a result of the unity, the Supreme Council of the Federation was established, which is considered the highest authority in the country and includes the seven sheikhs, rulers of the Emirates.

Immediately after that, the United Arab Emirates began to gain state recognition and join international organizations, starting with the League of Arab States, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the United Nations. It also played an important role in the formation of the Gulf Cooperation Council in 1981.

The National Day of the UAE Federation is not considered just a day of remembrance, but it goes beyond that to celebrations that last for day, rather it is an official holiday that includes celebrations, cinema shows, fireworks displays, sports competitions and the distribution of prizes with the participation of family and friends and the participation of all population of the country, citizens and residents.

The union began as an idea in 1968 between the emirates of Abu Dhabi and Dubai, it later expanded to include the seven emirates, in addition to Qatar and Bahrain, which subsequently withdrew and declined to join.

Talks lasted only about five months which were enough to turn the dream into reality, negotiations were satisfactory to all parties.

What distinguishes the federation is that it has succeeded and the seven emirates were able to integrate and become an effective part of it, and to achieve coordination and integration at all levels, on the political level, or on the economic front.

One flag and one army:

The Emirati flag was adopted in its four colours - green, white, black and red - which symbolize Arab unity. His Highness Sheikh Zayed was the first to raise the unified flag of the United Arab Emirates, after His Highness was chosen as the first president of the country and his emirate, the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, became the capital of the state.

All sectors have been consolidated within the seven emirates, each emirate maintains its internal affairs, for example: the emirate of Dubai has independent police from the federal police.
